I have a strong prejudice against state schools because their quality in my country is very poor. How good is the Swiss state school system?

Switzerland public education system (state schools) is one of the best in the world. There are two important factor for it. First Swiss teachers enjoy social consideration in Switzerland. Second, Swiss teachers are extremely well-paid by international standards. A senior high school teacher can make up to CHF 10,000 a month, twice the Swiss median income. The result is that teaching attracts many people who could have done many other jobs but chose teaching instead. This makes for an excellent quality of public education.

As a Swiss resident, you can enroll your children in the local state school at no expenses. Special classes are available for children who do not speak the local language for fast language teaching and then bridging with normal classes.
